Feds hope to jump on the “Green” bandwagon: Cap and Trade…

Siphoning $600 billion from the American people should be a fairly clear-cut situation, right? Taxing the people for that vast of an amount of money should be a straightforward process that has the undivided support of the legislators and their constituents. Anytime the government has a project intended to raise large quantities of cash, the project should be well-worth the blood, sweat and tears of the people who worked hard to earn the money in the first place.

The cap and trade bill that passed in the US House of Representatives lately did not have the undivided support of the House or its constituents, passing only 219 to 212. Yet, the bill would allow the Feds to raise $600 billion, promising to make the environment a better place. However, studies have shown that many of the projects that supposedly “save the environment” really cannot be proven to correlate with actually aiding the environment in reality. And, the money being taxed through the cap and trade scheme will only make the average American’s lives more difficult (and by average, we mean everyone). Not only will cap and trade make traditional energy costs soar, but the taxing will fall heavily on the poor, making them suffer even more.

Missouri state Senator Ellen Brandom recently urged Missourians to speak out against this cap and trade proposition in a letter in the Southeast Missourian, pleading everyone to call their US Senators and ask them to vote against this bill.

“Cap-and-trade legislation could not come at a worse time for rural America. Our economy depends on energy to fuel our farm equipment, provide manufacturers with electricity, run our cars and cool our homes. Our agricultural and manufacturing sectors would be greatly burdened by the taxes levied in HR 2454. The consequences in our corner of rural American would be extreme when compared to the rest of the nation.

I urge you to contact U.S. Sen. Kit Bond at 573-334-7044 and U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill at 573-651-0964 and let them know that you oppose cap-and-trade legislation.”
